Panhellenic Thalassaemia Conference 2010

Τhe Celebration for the International Thalassaemia Day will take place on May, 7-9 2010 at "Technopolis" of the City of Athens (Pireos 100, Gazi), the Athens Imperial Hotel in Athens and other venues in Athens. The event is organised by the Hellenic Federation of Thalasssaemia, with the contribution of the Panhellenic Movement for Thalassaemia , the Panhellenic Society for the Support of Thalassaemia Patients, and the Panhellenic Association of Patients with Thalassaemia.

 

The Hellenic Thalasseamia Federation (E.O.THA.)

The Hellenic Thalassaemia Federation was inaugurated in 1991 and constitutes the highest social organization of patients with Thalassaemia, and Sickle Cell disease. It includes 26 associations from all over Greece and represents 5.000 patients and their families. The federation is a member of the National Confederation of the Disabled as well as of the Thalassaemia International Federation (T.I.F.) 

It is a non-profit association, mainly aiming to improve the medical services provided to the patients, their professional establishment, and their social rehabilitation, by trying to overcome any obstacle that sets them in the margins of society.

Solidarity and relatinship enhancement between the many associations and members in Greece, are two of the key scopes of the H.T.F., seeking better treatment for Thalassaemia, and Sickle Cell disease, as well as solution to any other problem that may concern the patients.

Moreover,

  • The promotion of theurapetic treatment of Thalassaemia, based on the the international theurapetical protocols.
  • The promotion and coordination on Thalassaemia research and relative complications, and the support of any research programme relating to the disease.
  • The promotion of Voluntary Blood Donation and its development by all means, with respect to the international rules that govern it.
